Subject Description

A study of the 'new' dance forms which emerged in Europe during the period between the two world wars (this period has particular relevance to current philosophy and practice in dance education); major dance artists to be reviewed such as Isadora Duncan, Rudolf Laban, Mary Wigman and Gertrude Bodenweiser.

Assessment

Two 2500-word essays on the appreciation of dance in performance and the aesthetic component in the teaching of dance.
