Subject Description | This subject is a study of a range of computer mediated technologies and multimedia applications which can be used in early childhood settings. Students will be introduced to a range of computer systems and applications. Hypermedia and multimedia applications, such as the LOGO-based program, MicroWorlds, will be studied in depth. Through in-depth studies students will gain knowledge of computer graphics; importing sounds, digital images and videorecordings into hypermedia applications; scanning images and their various formats and sizes, and sharing projects through the Internet. Graphic-based World Wide Web software applications will also be studied in-depth for potential use with young children and for professional activities. Data analysis applications appropriate to research in the early childhood professions will be introduced. |
