Subject Description

The objective of this subject is to provide students with a clear understanding of a range of computer hardware, operating systems and application software applicable to later course work and professional activities, an understanding of human computer interaction and ergonomics, as well as the skills to effectively use a range of computer operating systems. The content includes an introduction to various computer hardware configurations and systems software, presentation managers, window systems and graphical user interfaces, and aspects of physical and cognitive ergonomics.

Assessment

Not more than three hours of written examinations and tests and not more than the equivalent of 40 pages of written assignments and reports on practical work. The relative weighting of the assessment components will be published at the commencement of the subject
