Subject Description | Review of Laplace transforms and s-domain circuit analysis. Analogue filter design: low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, band-reject, Butterworth, Chebyshev, elliptic/Cauer, filter transformations. Synthesis of analogue filters: active filters, cascading, positive and negative feedback, impedance and frequency scaling, Sallen-Key circuits. Discrete time systems: impulse response, convolution, transfer function, difference equations, signal flow graphs. Z-transforms. Fourier analysis of discrete-time systems: Fourier transforms, sampling and convolution, Shannon sampling theorem. Digital filter design: finite impulse response filters, infinite impulse response filters, sample invariance, Bilinear transformation. |
Assessment | One written examination not exceeding three-hours; practice classes, tests, assignments and project reports, not exceeding 20 pages |
