Subject Description

On completion of this unit students will have an appreciation of the major components required for the construction of an engineering project to be completed both on time and on budget.

Topics covered will include: Estimating and tendering civil engineering construction works, including work breakdown structures, work method statements, risk identification and tendering principles; Detailed study of contract documents for design and construction including various party responsibilities and authorities; Contract administration and project control functions and techniques including time and money negotiations and cash flow management.

Assessment

One examination not exceeding three-hours at the end of the Semester (60%) and one 5,000 word assignment or equivalent (40%)
