Subject Description | At the conclusion of this unit students should have developed advanced skills enabling them to analyse and design reinforced and prestressed concrete structures. Idealised frame method of slab design, flat plates and slabs. Punching shear. Partially prestressed beams and slabs. Introduction to torsion. Slender Columns. Bi-axial bending of columns. Reinforced concrete walls. Concrete technology (mix design, use of admixtures, durability). Major design project. |
Assessment | One written examination not exceeding three-hours at the end of the Semester (70%). Design project and laboratory reports submitted during the course (30%) |
