Subject Description | At the completion of this unit students will have an understanding of the roles of design, investigation and construction practices in the field of construction engineering. Topics covered include: Site investigation; Construction systems including foundations, cofferdams, earthworks, ground support, falsework and scaffolding, formwork, plant and equipment; Design aspects of construction systems, pavements and temporary works. Plant selection including earthmoving equipment, tunnelling, cranage; Construction Control. |
Assessment | One written examination not exceeding three-hours (60%) Two 2000 word assignments or equivalent (40%) |
