Subject Description

Students completing this unit will have acquired skills in the use and manipulation of spreadsheet software for engineering problem solving.

Topics covered include; basic operating system commands, review of use of word processors for engineering report writing, spreadsheets: understanding errors, graphs, function and command macros, tables, solving implicit equations, databases, interpolation, differentiation, integration, differential equations.

Assessment

One 1.5 hour examination performed in computer laboratory; two assignments based on the practical work of approximately 3000 words (or equivalent)
