Subject Description | The objective of this unit is to develop an understanding of the principles of engineering management and impart the skills necessary for efficiently planning scheduling and organising engineering projects. CPM and PERT network techniques for planning and financial control. Coding using work breakdown structures. Topics covered include: Engineering management in the public and private sector including organisational structures, responsibility and authority. Human relations activities and skills including occupational health and safety and enterprise bargaining. Introduction to engineering systems management, systems analysis, mathematical and linear programming. |
Assessment | One written examination not exceeding three-hours (70%); two assignments each of maximum 2000 words or equivalent (30%) |
