Subject Description

On completion of this unit students should appreciate the nature, and have an understanding, of the processes involved in developing solutions to problems concerned with infrastructure systems.

Topics covered include; techniques for problem definition; nature of infrastructure systems their sub-systems; conceptual modelling of systems; conceptual and creative thinking; planning methodology; function; performance, failure and reliability, communication by reports, plans, computer-aided drafting.

Assessment

One written examination not exceeding three-hours; two assignments of approximately 2000 word equivalent; one computer graphics assignment of not more than two hours
