Subject Description

The objectives of this subject are to introduce the handling and use of a range of basic scientific apparatus and engineering equipment of relevance to chemical engineering; to provide experience in the application of selected basic chemical engineering principles; and to train students in how to carry out, record and report on an experimental investigation. Students undertaking this subject perform a number of experimental projects involving aspects of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mass transfer and process control. Written reports are submitted for each experiment performed.

Assessment

Performance during project work (˜30%), and up to 13 written project reports (˜70%)
