Subject Description

This subject will provide an examination of the contextual, organisational and managerial issues associated with operating a multinational enterprise (MNE). Interactions between contextual elements and management of an international enterprise will be studied from both theoretical and practical perspectives. The major focus of the subject will include topics such as: forms of development of MNEs and their implications for management; organisation of international operations; international strategic management; social responsibility of MNEs; cross-cultural management issues; coordination and control in MNEs; staffing policies of MNEs and expatriate management.

Assessment

A 2-hour end-of-semester examination (70%); assignments not exceeding 3000 words (30%).
