Subject Description

This is an introductory subject in which the student will examine the principles that underlie the practices which assist the management of strategy, systems, structure and people in the modern workplace. The subject will be evaluative rather than prescriptive in nature as well as having a strong international comparative leaning. Topics covered will include ethics, strategy, planning, control, power, organisational culture, leadership, conflict, dispute resolution, motivation, communication, workplace change, discrimination, flexibility and globalisation.

Assessment

One 2-hour end-of-semester examination (70%) and an essay of up to 2000 words (30%).
