Subject Description

  • aspects of the equine industry - terminology, insurance and purchase examinations, composition of the thoroughbred industry, identification of horses and veterinary roles at equine events;
  • equine stud farm management and breeding;
  • differential diagnosis of presenting signs - clinical and laboratory investigation of various signs in the horse to arrive at a specific diagnosis;
  • treatment and/or management of diseases encountered in the horse;
  • special considerations for the neonatal foal.

Assessment

A 3-hour written examination and two 20-minute oral examinations in the examination term of the final clinical year.
