Subject Description

  • diseases of the nervous system: Recognition and interpretation of clinical signs and performance at thorough neurologic examination. Localisation of neurologic lesions by their clinical signs, radiographic, ultrasonic and other diagnostic aids. Cross and microscopic pathology of nervous system lesions. Treatment principles, medical and surgical techniques;
  • hormonal regulatory systems, in particular pituitary, adrenal, thyroid and parathyroid hyperfunction and hypofunction: Clinical recognition and investigation, pathology and treatment principles;
  • opthalmology: Clinical recognition and investigation of eye disease and visual dysfunction, pathology of the eye, and principles of medical and surgical treatment of eye disease;
  • disease of the ear: Clinical recognition and investigation, pathology and principles of medical and surgical treatment of ear disease.

Assessment

A 3-hour written examination at the end of the first clinical year.
