Subject Description | Biometric procedures for assessing the management and health of animal populations. Animal production systems. Principles and practices of feeding domestic animals. Animal behaviour in relation to management, housing and restraint. Animal handling. Codes of practice for the management, nutrition, housing, transport, welfare and care of domestic animals. |
Assessment | A 2-hour written examination (mid-year) and a 3-hour written examination (end of year), one assignment of not more than 4,000 words in second semester, and performance in practical work throughout the year. A minimum of four weeks of farm work in approved animal industries and a practical record book must be completed satisfactorily (end of year). |
