Subject Description

Reviews the history of, and current political and social contests over, the concept of victimisation. Narrow legalistic approaches are contrasted with those which embrace victims of economic and other abuses of power. Contemporary Australian policies, programs and services are assessed in light of research on victims' needs. Media and other debates about victims are located in broader economic and political contexts.

Assessment

Up to 5000 words of written work at 3rd year level and 6000 words at 4th year level. An examination may be substituted for part of the written work.
