Subject Description

This course examines the reason for regulation, its historical and economic basis, regulatory techniques (including the criminal law) regulatory targets and the reasons for regulatory success or failure. On completion of the course the student should be able to understand the complex range of, and reasons for, compliant or deviant conduct as well as describe and evaluate regulatory techniques and practices.

Assessment

Up to 5000 words of written work at 3rd year level and 6000 words at 4th year level. An examination may be substituted for part of the written work.
