Subject Description | This course will explore the contemporary roles, status and forms of English(es) in the world, including: a look at the general causes and effects of the global spread of English, an examination of the status and divergent forms of the many new Englishes, an examination of the effects of the spread of English, and an overview of attempts to resist such effects. |
Assessment | Assignments and essays totalling 5000 words at 3rd year and 6,000 words at fourth year. |
Prescribed Texts | A set of readings will be available for purchase from the department. |
