Subject Description

In this subject students are introduced to the structure and history of the Japanese language. Aspects of Japanese phonology, morphology and syntax are discussed from a typological perspective. Japanese dialects, language history and relations with other languages are also considered.

Assessment

Assignments and a class test (altogether 90%) and workshop participation (10%), in total equivalent to 5,000 words in written work.
