Subject Description

This subject is based around constructing a field-based research strategy integrating a range of sociological methods. Students are introduced to strategies for literature and media review, problem definition, interview design and coding, questionnaire design and analysis, and to an introduction to SPSS for analysis of data generated by student research projects. The subject focuses on three areas: the family, health, and changing forms of inequality.

Assessment

A literature review, a critical essay and a fieldwork report totalling no more than 5,000 words
