Subject Description

A critical study of television and newspaper reporting, stereotypes and media interests in Australia and the U. S. The subject asks questions concerning the extent to which mass media generate and control social and political agendas. Students completing this subject should be able to: critically evaluate news and current affairs programs; assess the influence of different interests in political news; relate media policy to theories of political participation;

Written work of not more than 4000 words.
