Subject Description

An advanced subject in Chinese language and literature for students who are literate in Mandarin Chinese. On conclusion of the course students should be able to speak Mandarin with an acceptable standard accent. They will have some knowledge of both classical and modern Chinese literature and will be able to write Modern Standard Chinese in an acceptable style.

Assessment

One oral examination (20 minutes); in-class exercises up to 2500 words; homework to a maximum of 2,500 words.
