Subject Description

An accelerated course for students who speak a dialect of Chinese but who cannot read or write Chinese characters or speak Mandarin. By the conclusion of this subject students should have reached approximately the same level as Chinese 1B. They should be able to speak with acceptable standard pronunciation, write at least 600 characters, and conduct conversation on a limited number of topics.

Assessment

One aural/oral examination (1 hour); assignments and short written tests (maximum 2000 words); homework to a maximum of 3,000 words.
