Six hours per week: one lecture; four language classes; one language laboratory

Subject Description

Spoken and written Chinese for students with no previous knowledge of the language. By the end of this subject students will be familiar with the pinyin system of romanisation, be able to write approximately 200 Chinese characters, and be able to conduct simple conversations on a limited number of topics.

Assessment

One aural/oral examination (maximum 40 minutes); one written examination (1 hour); assignments and/or short written tests to a maximum of 3,000 words.
