Subject Description | This subject will enable students to understand critically the functioning of contemporary Indonesian society. In the first half of the course there are lectures and seminars on contemporary Indonesian politics, economics and culture. In the second half of the course important current events in Indonesia will be discussed. Some readings from the Indonesian media (in Bahasa Indonesia) will be used as sources of information. |
Assessment | One two-hour written examination (mid-semester), and one essay of no more than 4000 words. |
Prescribed Texts | A subject reader will be provided, especially on the current issues that are discussed in the course. |
