Subject Description | A review of Jewish literature from the Enlightenment to the present, featuring a variety of authors, genres and texts. The principal theme of the subject is the exploration of the role of metaphor, biblical and modern, within Jewish literature, with particular attention to the sacrifice of Isaac and other biblical metaphors. Attention is also given to Jewish literary bilingualism, and the representation of women and of non-Jewish figures in Jewish literature. |
Assessment | 3000 words of written work (50%) and a 2-hour seen examination (50%). |
