Prerequisites

Two years recent formal language study. In their first year, high school graduates from Greece or Cyprus, or those with an A+ VCE result, should enrol in two of the post-advanced language subjects (150-167 and 150-175).

Subject Description

Detailed study of grammar and analysis and discussion of authentic Modern Greek texts of some complexity related to contemporary social institutions and issues. Students enrolled in 150-165 will also study the socio-cultural context and historical background to contemporary usage.

Assessment

150-165: Regular written language work up to 2000 words (30%); one essay up to 2000 words (25%); oral test (10 minutes, 5%) and a 2-hour written examination (40%).150-265/365: Regular written language work up to 3000 words (50%); oral test (10 minutes, 5%) and a 2-hour written examination (45%).150-465: Regular written language work up to 2000 words, one oral test 10 minutes) and one project up to 2000 words (65%); and a 2-hour written examination (35%).
