Subject Description | General academic communication skills with applications for workplace communication and a strong focus on speaking. Students will be introduced to basic principles for delivering successful oral presentations, using appropriate audio-visual and electronic aids, and participating effectively in group discussions. Consideration will be given to the basic principles of logic, argumentation and persuasion. Students will also be introduced to the use of word processing, spreadsheets, presentational software, and library and online resources for gathering information in support of oral and written communication. |
Assessment | Continuous assessment on class and homework tasks (totalling to no more than 1000 words) oral presentations of 20 minutes each, and a writing assignment (totalling no more than 1000 words). |
