Subject Description

Research and Archival Practice will be a practically oriented study of records relating to science, technology or medicine and will be based upon the archival methodology of the Australian Science Archives Project. Students will study elements of archival theory focusing on the nature of records and their value as sources of evidence for research. Students will also undertake a practical project documenting a collection of records and producing a guide to the collection for publication on the world wide web. As the greater part of the course project work will be undertaken in workshops, limited places are available for this class.

2 Class Papers (2 x 750 words) 2 x 15% Essay (3,000 words) 40% Documentation Exercise (1,500 words) 30%
