All BSc students, except those enrolled in the BA/BSc combined course and the BASc course, can only receive 12.5 points science credit at the 300-level for this subject.

Subject Description

A selection of advanced topics of current interest in the philosophy of science. Content of this subject may vary from year to year. Specific topics dealt with may include such issues as the following: the nature and justification of scientific methodology and scientific reasoning; philosophical and psychological aspects of scientific evidence and explanation; causation and laws of nature in the natural sciences.

Assessment

12 weekly seminar papers plus major final essay totalling 5000 words.
