Subject Description | This course incorporates the lectures for 136-203 and extends the material in them in an additional 90-minute lecture/seminar. The subject will focus on the notion of rationality, as found in scientific practice. In addition to general issues such as the psychological origins of rational and irrational beliefs, it will also focus on the determinants of what counts as good evidence and good arguments in scientific debates. |
Assessment | The best ten of twelve tutorial exercises and a 2000 word essay totalling 4000 words. |
