 136-307 Philosophy of Science for Scientists

This subject is for Science students only. Students cannot gain credit for both this unit and 136-220.

Two lectures and one 90-minute lecture/seminar per week

Subject Description

This course incorporates the lectures for 136-220 and extends the material in them in an additional 90-minute lecture/seminar. It will explore the history and logic of such major scientific theories as Newtonian mechanics or evolution. It will pay particular attention to the relationship between the science learned in their courses and the history and logic of these theories.

Assessment

The best 10 of 12 tutorial exercises and a 2000 word essay totally 4000 words.
