Subject Description | This course incorporates the lectures for 136-229 and extends the material in them in an additional 90-minute lecture seminar. Historical, philosophical and sociological aspect of revolutions in scientific thought, with an emphasis on contemporary science. Case studies include the 'modern revolution' in the earth sciences and the on-going controversy about the 'death of the dinosaurs'. |
Assessment | The best 5 of 10 tutorial exercises (25%) and 2 essays, the total not to exceed 4000 words. |
