Subject Description

This subject examines the establishment and expansion of spectator sport in Australian society and its cultural significance with reference to the themes of modernity, capitalism and hegemony. Students will be expected to reflect critically upon the relationship between the spectator, the organisation of sport and the changing social and economic context and to develop research and communication skills through the investigation of specific topics.

Assessment

Tutorial participation (10%), written work amounting to no more than 5,000 words (90%).
