Subject Description | This subject examines the revolutionary transformation of the Nguyen Empire under French colonial rule and the consequences of internal and external attempts to thwart the forces of national and social revolution. Students will be able to develop a critical understanding of the main histories of modern Vietnam with the Vietnamese themselves at the centre and 'the war' in long perspective. |
Assessment | Two essays totalling not more than 5000 words. |
