Subject Description | A series of biographical studies of nineteenth century Victorians which enable the examination of a series of issues in the history of the colony such as social values (including gender issues), liberalism and its effect on government, the constitutional crises, urbanisation, policies towards Kooris, education, immigration, defence, the arts, labour and federation. |
Assessment | An oral class presentation (10%) plus 4500 words of written work consisting of either a 1500 word minor essay (30%) and a 3000 word research essay (60%) OR a 4500 word major research essay (90%). |
