Subject Description | The development of the Russian novel in the 19th century. Close analysis of three major novels by Turgenev, Tolstoy and Dostoevsky. By the end of the subject students should be able to: understand the development of the genre in Russian literature; demonstrate a close understanding of the selected works. |
Assessment | By essays and class paper totalling up to 5000 words (3rd year), 6000 words (4th year). |
