Subject Description

This subject covers Swedish history in the 19th and 20th centuries with an emphasis on cultural elements (August Strindberg, the Swedish novel and film). Students will survey some of the main works of Swedish film and concentrated on four films. They will also develop a synchronic and diachronic grasp of some of the principal features, periods and themes of European culture through acquaintance with Swedish culture.

Assessment

Essays, class papers and assignments of not more than 5000 words.
