Subject Description | Analysis of linguistic structures of modern German and of the subject matter of the Special Studies unit taken. During the subjects students will enhance the capacity to use basic idiomatic and conversational forms and the ability to employ them freely in speech. They will also consolidate a level of proficiency in written structures of moderate complexity and extend the capacity to use such structures clearly and accurately. They will acquire the ability to interpret messages of a sophisticated level of complexity occurring in a variety of multi-media approaches and in individual and group spoken forms. They will also develop a conceptual understanding of language use through a linguistic study of language functions. They will also acquire a basic knowledge of the principles of analysis of the discipline of the Special Studies units of their choice. They will endeavour to achieve the level of language competency required for admittance into Advanced German Second Year B (126-206). |
Assessment | Two one-hour language tests, one oral examination (15 minutes), written work not exceeding 1500 words (Special Studies). |
