Six hours a week comprising four hours of intermediate language study and two Special Studies units

Subject Description

Acquisition and expansion of language skills through intensive language training. During the subject students will explore all major facets of the grammar of German and its structures. They will attempt to increase their vocabulary to a reasonable level of complexity in the speaking, aural understanding, reading and writing of German. They will attempt to acquire a basic knowledge of the principles of analysis of the subjects of their Special Studies units. They will endeavour to achieve the level of competency required for admittance into Advanced German Second Year A (126-205), Advanced German Third Year A (126-305), or German Third Year A (Intermediate) 126-309.

Assessment

A two-hour language test at the end of semester (40%), a one-hour listening comprehension test (10%), an oral exam (10%), two Special Studies tests (15% each) and regular vocabulary tests throughout the semester (10%).
