Subject Description | An extension of the work done in 126-101. During the subject students will endeavour to command a clear and accurate spoken facility at a basic standard. They will also attempt to command a knowledge of the principal grammatical structures of the German language and have attained the capacity to apply these principles in speech and writing. They will also read and evaluate a wide variety of German texts ranging from timetables and newspaper items to journal articles, short stories and poems. They will become familiar with important German cultural habits and traditions. They will endeavour to achieve the level of language competency required for admittance into Intermediate German A (126-203). |
Assessment | Class tests 10% (10 minutes each) and homework assignments 10%, oral examination (15 minutes) 20%, literature essay or conversation 10%, written language test (three hours) 50%. Only students who have attended at least 80% of the classes will be admitted to the final oral and written examinations. |
