Subject Description

The course is intended to focus on a linguistic analysis of texts from non-mainstream literature (including some material in dialect). The course will also include advanced (take-home) exercises in composition with the express purpose of refining syntax and style.

Assessment

Written work throughout the semester (average of take-home translations); class paper; 2-hour end-of-semester test in composition; and end-of-semester oral examination. All four components will carry equal value.
