Subject Description

The course provides a comprehensive introduction to contemporary Italian. Weekly language classes will gradually familiarize the student with grammatical rules and functional skills, necessary to communicate in the foreign language. A weekly conversation class and language laboratory will assist the language learning process. This course provides also an introduction to Italian literature and culture. Continuous assessment is done through tests, exercises, oral presentations, etc., and is fundamental to ascertain the student's progress in the language acquisition. By the end of the academic year, students will have developed oral and written skills in the target language enabling them to communicate and read simple literary texts.

Assessment

Continuous assessment: language assignments, tests and attendance. End-of-semester tests (two hours).

Prescribed Texts
