Subject Description | A research seminar investigating the technical, stylistic and political application of naturalist painting in a variety of regions in Europe and Australia. The relationship of this movement with its progenitor the plein air painting and Impressionism of Paris. Regions to be studied will include Newlyn and St. Ives (U.K.), Glasgow, Ireland, Brittany and Normandy, Skaagen (Denmark), the Low Countries, Sydney and Melbourne. |
Assessment | Written work which may comprise class papers, essays, visual tests or take-home examinations totalling about 6000 words. |
