Subject Description | Interactions between Western and Byzantine Art from the 8th to the 14th century. Students who complete this subject should: have a familiarity with the key developments in middle and late Byzantine art. have an understanding of the functions of church architecture and decorative programs in the East and the West and of their interaction. have developed a critical understanding of the basic principles of constructing the history of art of this period. |
Assessment | Written work which comprises class papers, essays, visual tests or take-home examinations totalling approximately 5000 words. |
