Subject Description | This subject studies feminist uses of popular genres such as romance, crime, fantasy and science fiction, focusing on the politics of generic appropriation and literary experimentation. Students who complete this subject should: be familiar with the forms and subject matter of some popular literary genres (romance, crime, fantasy and science fiction); understand the ways these genres are used in contemporary feminist writing; be familiar with some key concepts of feminist literary theory; be able to discuss the intersections between feminist writing and feminist politics, and understand the conceptual issues and problems involved. |
