Subject Description

Students will study a range of contemporary texts in different genres and will also develop a folio of their own creative writing, in response to the subject. They will develop a critical and historical understanding of the period, be aware of recent innovations in writing, gain an understanding of the theoretical implications of different genres and learn to use classes as workshop sessions for their own writing. In their study of literature since the 1970s they will develop the relevant knowledge on which to base further work in English and Cultural Studies.

Assessment
