Subject Description

The cultural and religious life of the late empire; the conflict between Christianity and pagan culture. Students on completion of the subject should have acquired an understanding of the main aspects of pagan and Christian culture in the Roman world, the evidence for these periods and the necessary skills for the interpretation of this evidence.

Assessment

3000 words of written work (50%) and a 2-hour examination (50%).
