 1. Suggested subjects

Not all History and Philosophy of Science subjects are regarded as science subjects. The tables below list the History and Philosophy of Science subjects for which science credit will be awarded. If a student elects to complete a History and Philosophy of Science subject that does not appear in these tables, and is offered at two different levels (e.g. 136-225/325 Social History of Medicine), non- science credit will be awarded at the lower level towards the Bachelor of Science degree.

Note that:

Under recent changes to the structure of the Bachelor of Science degree, students commencing in 1998 or subsequent years have to obtain at least 50 points at each of the 100-level, 200-level and 300-level from one or more approved departments or programs (listed in The 50-point rule). Provided that the student's companion subjects satisfy the 50 point rule, Bachelor of Science students can study as many science History and Philosophy of Science subjects as desired. Non-science History and Philosophy of Science subjects can be included within the non-science allowance of 62.5 points ('Non-science' subjects allowance).

Within the BSc, students also have enough flexibility to include the History and Philosophy of Science 300-level points required for entry into the BSc Honours program in History and Philosophy of Science.
